Overview
SLRC Assam invites online applications from Indian citizens (as defined under Articles 5 to 8 of the Constitution) for 72 posts of Field Assistant (Statistics)/Enumerator under ISS, for the Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Assam, Chenikuthi, Guwahati-03.

PwBD means Persons with Benchmark Disabilities. To be considered, a candidate must have a benchmark disability of 40% or more and a certificate from the competent authority. Selected PwBD candidates must go through a medical board, and appointment is given only after the disability is confirmed.
Ex-servicemen must upload the Ex-Servicemen Identity Card issued by the Zila Sainik Welfare Office of Assam and the Discharge Book when applying for the reserved post.

Age limit for Assam Field Assistant Recruitment 2026
A candidate must be at least 21 and not more than 40 years old as on 01.01.2026. The age is calculated only from the HSLC/Class X Pass Certificate or HSLC/Class X Admit Card issued by a recognized Board/Council, where the age or date of birth is clearly shown. In practice, a general candidate must be born between 2 January 1985 and 1 January 2005 to meet 21 to 40 years on 1 January 2026.
Educational qualification
- Degree
- at least one paper of Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Social Science, Sociology or Psychology studied at graduate level, or
- a Bachelor’s degree in any subject with 50% marks in Mathematics at 12th standard.
- English and a local language
- Candidates must have studied both English and any one local language (Assamese, Bengali or Bodo) as subjects during HSLC.
- Computer knowledge
- Knowledge of computers and comfort in keying data through a handheld device. Candidates must hold and upload a Computer Course Certificate of at least 6 months from a Government recognised institute.
- Employment Exchange registration
- A valid Employment Exchange registration certificate in the State of Assam is mandatory.

Common mistakes to avoid
- Using any document other than the HSLC certificate or admit card as proof of age. The notice says no other document is accepted
- Not having both English and a local language (Assamese, Bengali or Bodo) at HSLC.
- Uploading a caste certificate that lacks the Act/order or village/town details.
- Waiting for the last day. The portal may be slow close to 14 November.
- Giving wrong information. The Commission can cancel the candidature, and false declarations at any stage attract penalty under prevailing law and rules.
- Canvassing for the job, which disqualifies a candidate.
