The Directorate of Welfare of SC & BC, Assam has issued a public notice inviting applications from eligible inter-caste married couples for a financial incentive scheme. Assam Inter-Caste Marriage Scheme 2026 is good decision from Government. The scheme aims to promote social integration by encouraging marriages between Scheduled Caste (SC) and General Caste Hindu individuals.
Financial Assistance Amount
Eligible couples will receive financial assistance of Rs 2.50 Lakhs, provided in the form of a fixed deposit, opened jointly in the name of the couple (with the woman’s name listed first) in a Government/Nationalized bank. The deposit carries a lock-in period of three years, with no facility for pre-mature encashment. The number of couples granted this incentive depends on the availability of budget and sanction of funds from the Government
How to Apply
| Eligible couples can apply for the Assam Inter-Caste Marriage Financial Incentive Scheme 2025 by submitting the prescribed application form along with all required self-attested documents. Applicants must ensure that they fulfill the eligibility criteria, including a valid inter-caste marriage between an SC and a General Caste Hindu spouse, a marriage certificate issued by the Sub-Registrar, and an annual family income not exceeding ₹5 lakh. After completing the application form, candidates should attach the required documents such as caste certificates, income certificates, Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, address proof, marriage certificate, and a joint photograph. A declaration certificate from a Gazetted Officer confirming that it is the first marriage of both spouses must also be submitted. The duly filled application form should be submitted to the Directorate of Welfare of SC & BC, Assam, on or before 30 September 2026. Applicants are advised to carefully verify all information and documents before submission, as incomplete or late applications will not be accepted. |
Eligibility Criteria Assam inter-Caste Marriage Scheme 2026
| 1. One spouse of the inter-caste marriage must belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC), and the other must belong to General Caste Hindu. |
| 2. A Marriage Certificate issued by the Sub-Registrar office (Marriage Officer) is required. |
| 3. The marriage must have been performed between 1st January 2025 and 31st December 2025. |
| 4.No Incentive is given for a second or subsequent marriage- a marriage certificate from a Gazette Officer confirming it is the couple’s first marriage is mandatory. |
| 5. The couple’s combined annual income from all sources must be Rs 5 Lakhs or below. |

Important Note
- Eligible couples will be required to open a joint bank account for receiving the financial assistance.
- Incomplete applications will be rejected.
- Applications received after the last date will not be accepted.
- Release of funds will be subject to budget availability and government approval.

Self-attested application documents must reach the office of the Director, Welfare of SC & BC, Assam on or before 30th September 2026. Applications received after the deadline will not be accepted, and incomplete applications will be rejected. Incentive disbursal is subject to budget provision.
