The Directorate of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes in Assam has issued the official notification for the Assam OBC Scholarship Scheme. This scheme, centrally sponsored, encompasses Pre-Matric and Post-Matric scholarships for students in Assam who belong to Other Backward Classes (OBC/MOBC) for the academic year 2023-2024. Eligible and interested candidates can submit their online applications for the OBC Scholarship Assam 2024 through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at www.scholarships.gov.in.

Eligibility Criteria For OBC Scholarship 2024
Eligibility Criteria: Assam OBC Scholarship
- Community Eligibility: Only students from the OBC community are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
- Citizenship Requirement: The scholarships are open to Indian nationals only.
- Family Restriction: Only two boys from the same parents or guardian are entitled to receive scholarships. However, this restriction does not apply to girls. Therefore, the scholarship availed by girls from the same parents or guardian will not adversely affect the eligibility of up to two boys from the same parents or guardian.
- Income Ceiling:
- For Pre-Matric (Class-IX & X) [Component-I] and Post-Matric Scholarship, scholarships will be granted to OBC students whose parental or guardian’s income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakhs per annum. The income certificate should be obtained exclusively from the Circle Officer of the respective Revenue Circle.
- For Pre-Matric (Class I-X) [Component-II] Scholarship, there is no income limit for the children of those engaged in occupations involving cleaning and prone to health hazards.
- Children of those engaged in occupations involving cleaning and prone to health hazards must submit a certificate from the District Social Welfare office, an identified officer of the local body, civic agency, or any authority designated by the State Government as eligible candidates.

Note:
- Bank Account Details:
- Applicants are strongly advised to provide active bank account details to ensure successful scholarship payments. All disbursements will be made through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode. The authority will not be responsible for any transaction failures due to inactive or incorrect bank details.
- Aadhaar Seeding:
- Applicants must ensure that their bank account is linked with their Aadhaar number.
- Aadhaar Requirement:
- Aadhaar is mandatory for all applicants. However, for minor applicants applying without Aadhaar, it is mandatory for the parent or legal guardian to provide their Aadhaar details.

- Click on the “New Registration” link.
- Enter your details as required in the portal and complete the registration process.
- After registration, input all necessary credentials and upload the required documents on the portal.
- Finally, click on “Submit” and ensure to take a printout of your submitted application for reference.
